Deep rich color with lovely black plum and berry aromas. Sweet smooth and elegant with good structure and concentration. Fine solid round tannins and a wonderful length of flavor. Very delicious to drink young it will age in Bottle for decades, progressively developing the complexity and bouquet characteristic of mature Vintage Port.
Wine advocate: 95 points. "A very expressive nose of blackberry, liquorices, a touch of fruitcake and freshly tilled soil. Good definition. The palate has wonderful concentration, with an almost viscous texture, good acidity cutting through layers of rich black, saturated fruit, leading to a honeyed, svelte finish that caresses the mouth. Superb."
Wine anorak: 95 points. "Fantastically focussed dark spicy nose with amazing floral aromatics, and blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. The palate is dense with focussed dark fruit. Complex, with notes of olive and spice, as well as complex herby notes. Delicious, pure and vinous."

Roy Hersh (2010): 93+ points. "The upside potential here is impressive. Rich nearly full-bodied in weight, soft and ultimately approchable, this is a fruit driven Port with enough crisp acidity and prominent, yet resolved tannins that will provide the ability to age for up to 2 decades. Don't be afraid to drink this Romaneira early on too."
