A classic and outstanding Vintage. 1994 Ports are rich, concentrated yet fine with fruit character and great structure. An outstanding Vintage, probably one of the best of the 20th century. General declaration.
Richard Mayson wrote: “Outstanding wines, with flesh masking at the outset. The best wines are now dumb with brooding tannins and opulence. Dow, Fonseca, Graham, Taylor and Ware are in the premier league, as always, with Quinta do Noval and Quinta do Vesuvio joining them.”
Roy Hersh 96+ (2014-10-11): "Nearly full opacity. Spicy bouquet with esteva, pine resin and creosote. Medium-full weight and off dry entry. Floral and long, with massive ripe tannins yielding a VP with long term cellaring potential. A classy wine that is a wee bit young and needs time to mellow. I believe this has another half century of upside from here. Excellent!"
