Dark amber color tending towards copper. Extremely fresh but huge nose of sweet brown sugar, spices and cinnamon. Very intense in the mouth with notes of citrus, butterscotch and toffee. Despite almost 80 years of ageing process, it impresses with its freshness, youth and irreverence. An exceptionally long aftertaste.
Roy Hersh 95 points: "Medium maple color with golden-green rim. A dramatic first whiff which opened up in the glass to afford a ridiculously multifaceted mélange of scents; roasted nuts, orange pekoe tea, mahogany and with a coffee chaser. Incredible. Well-balanced and with sharp, crisp acidity that provides the focus to carry the sweet and intense hazelnut and citrus flavors through to a long finish. I had this next to the 1952 Dalva Golden White and this was not as complex, although very close. I am not quite sure what was "missing" as it was still a delicious Port and one I'd be thrilled to drink any day of the week. This helped me to further respect the greatness of the 1952."
