Bottled in 2015, coming with around 55 g. of residual sugar. A beautiful Sercial, dominated by dried nuts and lime aromas, with decent weight and body. Very complex similar flavours in the mouth with hints of tobacco and saltiness.
Roy Hersh (2013) 92 points: "A gorgeous mélange of cedar and sandalwood, lime zest, walnut pith and sea mist. Medium weight and smooth from 10 hours of decanting. I am a fan of this dry style of Sercial and there is just a scoach of sweetness up front. The mid-palate is lovely and layered with succulent, mouthwatering acidity from the lemon/lime duality. Persistence is medium-long and this D'Oliveiras is a great place to begin when seeking out a solid Sercial Vintage Madeira at an affordable price."
Neal Martin (Robert parker 2912) 92 points: "The 1969 Sercial is also ex-Adegas do Torreao and, again, the quality shows through. It has a comparatively straightforward bouquet of honey, white chocolate, rosewater and a touch of honeysuckle. It opens nicely with aeration. The palate is delicate, but nicely composed on the entry with impressive weight and volume. There is a cutting seam of fresh ginger that is neatly interwoven into flavors of marmalade and Satsuma fruit. It softens nicely towards the finish without losing freshness and delineation."
