Dark coppery color. Deep aromas of rancio, roasted coffee beans, cigar box and exotic wood. In the mouth, it is a powerful and complex Colheita with notes of apricots, prune and tobacco. A lovely and long aftertaste. Another great Colheita from Andresen.Mark Squire (Robert Parker 2015) 95 points: The 1968 Colheita Port is a typical Douro blend bottled in 2015 and coming in at 160 grams per liter of residual sugar. It was easily the best of the mini-vertical in this issue. True, I tend to be biased in favor of the oldies, but who isn't? This opens with some delicacy, but it is also remarkably viscous in the mid-palate. It fleshes out, demonstrating some concentration of fruit as well as intense aromatics and a long finish, but, most of all, it is always impeccably well balanced. Supple, yet finishing with some intensity, this covers all the bases. Did I mention that it is quite delicious, too? The price is pretty reasonable for the age and quality."
